Questions about our products
What materials are used?
The basic body of each standard mouthpiece is made of a brass alloy with the ingredients copper, zinc and lead.
Rims can optionally be made of medically pure titanium grade 5.
Plexiglas and remnants of polymer wood are also available for the production of edges.
Which surfaces are available?
Our brass mouthpieces are always galvanically silver-plated, optionally 24 carat gold-plated.
A hybrid finish is also offered - this is a matt finish combined with silver plating or gold plating for brass parts.
Why are brass parts galvanised?
To create a long-lasting, dirt-resistant and noble surface.
Why are mouthpieces always silver?
This serves to prevent corrosion and patina of the brass material, as well as giving a noble shiny surface appearance.
What advantage does gold have?
Gold, as the noblest metal, has a finer, smoother surface and quickly takes over the lip temperature. The result is a warm, smooth embouchure at the edge of the mouthpiece.
What are the advantages of a titanium rim?
Its strengths come into their own especially in cold rooms or outdoors.
The rim material is antibacterial and medically pure, forms a pleasantly warm feeling on the lip due to its insulating effect. The material is corrosion and temperature resistant, has an enormously high strength and is very robust - almost indestructible.
How do I choose the right mouthpiece?
Based on the tonal requirements, taking into account the available instrument, the mouthpiece should be pleasant to play. The starting point is always the currently used mouthpiece, after which the characteristics to be improved are evaluated.
What distinguishes the Breslmair products?
The consistently high manufacturing quality including repeat accuracy. Thanks to the use of state-of-the-art production techniques, tolerances in the hundredths range can be produced and reproduced again and again.
Can I have my mouthpiece customised?
We offer maximum customisation and can provide the following options:
Name engraving, electroplating of choice (silver, gold), matting, choice of rim material (brass silver or gold, titanium, plexiglass, polymer wood) and much more.
How long does it take to finish my mouthpiece?
Standard range mouthpieces are ready for dispatch within 2-4 working days. Custom products are scheduled into the production plan and are normally ready for delivery between 10 and 15 working days.
